2nd Feather [commentlog]

[There's an owl in the Keep. A rather ruffled looking Barn owl, to be specific.

Te Ata had been getting restless on the ground, so she had shifted to her owl form. She had been slightly worried at how long it had taken and the energy it had expended that she had tried to shift back almost immediately.

Rather shocked at being stuck as an owl, Te Ata had gathered up her scattered clothes and hid them away before taking to the sky to scout out the Keep.

Feel free to bug the owl.]

[Hello there little miss owl, somebody out there was watching you. Zachariah stood outside the stables having just woken up from one of his short naps. Like all the others it had been filled with nightmares, but once he saw the owl he quickly pushed them aside.

It had been sometime since he'd actually seen an owl so he watched with keen interest. Not wanting to scare it, he remained still, quiet, and simply observed. He had gotten quite good at that over the years.]

[Zachariah's eyes widened to the size of saucer plates. He had certainly not been expecting that. Eventually he smiled widely. As surprising as it was, it was also amazing. He quickly reached into his pocket and offered the owl a piece of beef jerky.]

[His grin grew even wider now.]

This is amazing.

[Sure he knew a giant robot and one of his friends could turn into a dragon, but he never had a wild animal, or he thought was a wild animal, perch on him like this before.

He lifted a finger towards it, wondering if it would let him stroke its feathers.]

[Zachariah strokes the bird gently with his finger. Maybe he's just easily impressed by the simple things but this is awesome.]

Now where did you come from? Haven't seen any owls since I got here. Do you belong to someone?

[He smiles at the noise and continues to pet it, but he's more than a little surprised when it answers him. It did just answer him didn't it?]

Can you understand me?

[This is definitely not a coincidence. The owl knows what he's saying.]

Guess you're not an ordinary owl, but then there's not much that's ordinary around here huh?

[He continues to pet it. Special owl or not, it does seem to like having its feathers stroked.]

Is this place your home?
